Please read your appointment
letter carefully
before
you come into Centre, it should include the time
and location of your appointment and a contact
telephone number. It may also ask you to bring
certain items with you, or ask you to visit
another department for tests before your clinic
appointment.
Please
be on time for your
appointment.
If you do arrive late, people who are on time
may be seen before you but it is not recommended
that you arrive more than 10 minutes before your
appointment time, unless you are required to
visit another department for tests before your
clinic appointment.
When
you arrive please report to the clinic reception
desk
so staff knows that you are in the waiting area.
You will then be called when it is time to see
your doctor.
Seeing the Doctor The length of time you spend with
the doctor will vary. If you are a new patient,
the consultation may take a little longer as the
doctor will need to take a medical history and
may need to perform an examination. Please do
not be embarrassed by the personal nature of the
questions you may be asked. Your answers ensure
the doctors gain an overall picture of your
condition.
What
should I bring?
Please remember to bring:
-
Your
appointment letter, and any other information
that we may have sent to you
-
Any
medicines or inhalers that you are taking at the
moment
-
A
small amount of money in case you need to buy a
drink or snack
-
Information
about any change in your personal details, for
example, if you have a new address or a new GP,
or a different next of kin
-
Proof
of entitlement to free prescriptions
-
Proof
of entitlement to free travel costs
Every
effort is made to run the clinic on
time
but unfortunately some patients need longer
appointments than expected or doctors get called
to emergencies. Please be understanding if your
appointment is delayed.
If
you are unable to attend, do let
us know as soon as possible so we can give your
appointment to another patient and arrange an
alternative time for you. You should call the
appointment office of the clinic or department
you are attending. You will find the telephone
number listed on your appointment
card.
